A Mom… ME…. REALLY!
Honestly, anyone who knows me knows how badly I wanted to be a mom—to create my own family. And then… God blessed me with FOUR!
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that was possible. For the longest time, I believed I couldn’t conceive—that maybe my time had run out.
Having a family of my own was so important to me that it even led me to end relationships. I didn’t just want a baby—I wanted a family. A real, loving, connected family. I wanted to cultivate the kind of love and security I longed for as a child. A place where I could protect, love, and experience true happiness.
It was a painful journey, but I refused to settle. I took charge of my own future. I let go of comfort and took risks.
At 35 years old, I was single, and—according to science—"old" when it came to fertility. By 30, fertility starts to decline, and by your mid-30s, the chance of natural pregnancy is only 20% per month. I heard so many horror stories, and honestly, I didn’t even know egg freezing was a thing until someone told me my chances were already low.
So… I started accepting the idea that maybe adoption was in my future.
And then, I met my husband—my blessing.
From the start, I was crystal clear about what I wanted: marriage and kids. I even told him that I might need to go through IVF to conceive. And you know what? He was all in. It didn’t scare him away.
We got engaged after seven months of dating, and two months later—I got pregnant!
I. COULD. NOT. BELIEVE. IT.
I took four tests… and then a digital one, just to be sure. 🤣 I remember being at work, running to Duane Reade to buy a test because my period was two days late. After the first test, I went back and grabbed more. My dream of becoming a MOM was happening for real.
Fast forward five years and four kids later—all natural, no IVF. I had my last baby at 40.
All of this to say—never give up hope. Listen to others, be open to advice, but don’t let their experiences define your reality. Learn, try, and believe.
I was mentally prepared to go through IVF. I even had an appointment booked at a fertility clinic. In fact, the only reason I took a pregnancy test was because I was waiting on my cycle to start my testing. And guess what? It just happened.
And if it hadn’t? I was fully open to adoption. Because for me, the end goal was clear: to create a family of my own—one way or another.
I let go of how it needed to happen—the attachment to exactly what it should look like. The checklists we all create. And that was BIG. I didn’t stress. I prayed. And I never gave up hope. 💕
